Random question of the day!  Now that the dust has settled as the networks have (hopefully) completed their program cancellations, which sci-fi/ fantasy show cancellation (of the 2011-2012 tv season) has you the most upset?  Vote in the poll below!

Out of all of them, I am most upset about Chuck ending.  Though the quality declined a little bit in recent years, it was always a fun, simple show to watch with some cool, dynamic characters who had great chemistry together.  I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of the others, though I did enjoy Sanctuary, Eureka and Awake.  Terra Nova was terrible a complete let down in my opinion.

What do you think?

EDIT: And yes, I decided to add in NBC’s Chuck and SYFY’s Eureka because they were cancelled before their final seasons which aired this tv season (Fall 2011 to Spring 2012).  I know Chuck wasn’t technically cancelled but  it was ended by the network due to bad ratings and they gave it one last season to tie up loose ends so I’ll include it.

ANOTHER EDIT: Shit, I forgot Terra Nova…Adding now.

NBC released previews for its new shows today, including the upcoming JJ Abrams/Eric Kripke drama, “Revolution.”  It seems very well done, though it is only a 4 minute preview video.  The show is set to air on Monday nights at 10 pm this fall.  Also, the pilot was directed by Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man, which is pretty neat.  A lot of great people are working on this show, hopefully it can find an audience and be successful.  Below is the preview:

So, what do you think of it?  Seeing Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring from Breaking Bad) as a warlord is pretty great and the rest of the cast looks alright too.

NBC cancels “Awake”

Damn, this sucks.  According to TVByTheNumbers, NBC has cancelled “Awake.”  It isn’t much of a suprise considering the terrible ratings it was bringing in but I was hoping NBC would give it one more season anyways.  It was a great show with a unique, interesting premise and it’s a shame that it didn’t attract a bigger audience.

Good news!  According to TVByTheNumbers, NBC has picked up “Revolution”, a sci-fi drama/ thriller from TV god JJ Abrams (creator of LOST, Fringe, Alcatraz and director of Star Trek, Super 8 and more) and Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke!  Revolution would follow a group of people trying to survive in a world where “all energy sources have been mysteriously made inoperable.”  It will star David Lyons (The Cape), Billy Burke (Twilight) and best of all, Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad)!  I’ve heard good things about the pilot script which makes me very excited to see this premier, most likely this fall!

What do you think of the premise?  Do you think it will succeed or will it be this year’s failed sci-fi show (like FlashForward or The Event in past years)? Comment below!

I’ve been following the business of TV (ratings and so on) for several years now and have gotten fairly good at predicting renewals vs cancellations.  Below are my predictions for all the sci-fi and fantasy shows on the 5 major American networks.

FOX:

-Fringe: renewed for a fifth and final season of 13 episodes!

- Touch: ratings aren’t great but I think it will get one more season, even an extra short one

- Alcatraz: will be cancelled.

- Terra Nova: already cancelled.  Netflix talks fell through as well.

NBC:

- Awake: Ratings are VERY low, even for NBC’s standards.  The show is great but I’d be surprised if it got one more season.  Fingers crossed though!

-Grimm: Already renewed for a second season.  Seems to be doing very well on Fridays.

CW:

- Supernatural: Renewed for an 8th season

- Nikita: Doesnt look good.  Most likely cancelled.

- Vampire Diaries: Renewed.

CBS:

- Persons of Interest: Already renewed for a second season.  Haven’t watched this but I’ve heard great things.  Glad to see a sci-fi show actually getting good ratings!

ABC:

- The River: Will be cancelled.  Netflix was in talks to pick this up but its VERY doubtful.

- Once Upon A Time: Will be renewed for sure.

What do you think?  Comment below!
