Great news for anyone going to Comic-Con this year (sadly, not me)! The entire cast of Firefly including Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin and the rest of the gang, plus writer Tim Minear and creator/God Joss Whedon will be appearing at a panel hosted by the Science Channel on Friday, July 13th in Ballroom 20! Below is the press release:
FIREFLY 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Friday 7/13/12, 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m., Room: 20
It has been 10 years since the crew of Serenity took flight in Joss Whedon’s short-lived but now revered series, FIREFLY. SCIENCE will reconvene, for the first time in a decade, Captain Mal Reynolds and the crew from the ship, calling all Browncoats to unite at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. The cast of FIREFLY will talk about the past, present and future of FIREFLY, 10 years after its debut. SHINY.
Wow this looks like an exciting opportunity for all you Browncoats headed to San Diego in a few weeks as unless something new is in the works (Serenity 2 perhaps?), the cast probably won’t be uniting like this again for a long time. With all the success that Joss Whedon has had with The Avengers, I’d say its definitely possible he now has the influence and money to pull together a sequel for the fans that have been supporting him all these years. Come on Joss, return to the ‘verse! He has shown interest in a sequel, saying,
“You know, I love all my raggedy children, but if I could be anywhere, I’d be on board Serenity.”
Make it happen, we want another movie! Or even better, somehow convince HBO to buy the rights to Firefly from FOX and continue the series!
Will you be attending? TAKE ME WITH YOU!
EDIT: Jewel Staite, who played Kaylee Frye on the show, will not be attending. She confirmed this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JewelStaite/status/218389336306098176
