This is pretty awesome! Here’s an animated short made by Jed Whedon showing humanity abandoning an irreparable earth and flying away into space to colonize other worlds. Though it doesn’t officially have the Firefly/ Serenity name on it, it looks an awful lot like a prequel to the franchise! It’s really well done and I would love to see more animated shorts set in the ‘verse.

yes true, its not official but it has the Whedon name and shares many similarities so I think its very very possible that they are set in the same universe.
How is Jed Whedon related to Joss Whedon?
Otherwise I can’t see any prequality to it.
