Hey everyone, here is a quick update from Sal Lagonia, creator of Star Trek: Cardinal which was pitched today to CBS (original story on ST: Cardinal: http://ftlnews.com/2012/05/23/star-trek-cardinal-being-pitched-to-cbs-tomorrow/)
Hello everyone. I want to start by thanking everyone who supports this page and everyone who has pitched in to tell CBS what they want to see, especially Michael Daugherty, who created and maintains this page.
Everyone wants to know how today went, and I’ll start by saying that rumor travels faster than truth and that Cardinal was actually a small part of what today was about. Today was about a baseball-themed show called “Knuckle Down,” which has so far met with some pretty good reactions. Cardinal was a secondary topic, but I am hoping that it will receive a call-back in the near future. This is a very slow process and it will likely be some time before Cardinal is given her time to shine, but keep in mind that Cardinal herself sat in mothballs for twenty years before being sent out guide the galaxy, and like her, we’ll never go away.
Cardinal began as the scribblings of two film students nine years ago, and that it has gotten to this level can only be attributed to those who have worked so hard to help us get her there. So to everyone on this page, thank you, and I will try to give you as much information as possible as the process goes on.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” -MLK, official motto of USS Cardinal.
So basically no news but it is probably safe to assume that there will still be no new Star Trek show until after JJ Abrams’ Trek movie comes out next year. Whether it will be Cardinal or Bryan Singer’s Star Trek: Federation or something else, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll keep you posted if anything else happens.
-Tom

“Knuckle Down”? You mean, like the baseball show “East Bound and Down”? If the pitch for “Knuckle” was anything like the rambling, incoherent run-on sentence that is your “Cardinal” pitch, I don’t think we will be seeing a baseball show from you anytime soon. Don’t worry, you can always go back to being a PA for crappy sitcoms…
Not my pitch or my shows, just posting what I hear.
